What happens during the test?

• A technician will tie a rubber band around your upper arm to make your veins more visible.

• They will clean the area, then insert a needle to collect blood into a small tube.

• You may feel a small prick or sting as the needle goes in.

• After the sample is collected, the needle is removed, and a bandage is placed over the site.

What can a blood test show?

• Complete Blood Count (CBC):

  Measures the number of red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets, which can help diagnose anemia, infection, and other conditions.

• Blood Chemistry:

  Measures chemicals and substances in your blood, such as glucose, calcium, and electrolytes, to assess organ function (like the liver and kidneys) and check for conditions like diabetes.

• Lipid Panel:

  Measures cholesterol and triglycerides to assess your risk for heart disease.

• Organ Function Tests:

  Specific tests can look at how well your liver or kidneys are working.

• Disease Markers:

  Some blood tests look for specific markers that may indicate the presence of certain diseases, including some types of cancer.
